Poultry

Our Mission:
Provide a high quality poultry product to consumers through the use of existing farm resources to sustain family farms.

Our Objectives

Educate consumers to recognize the value of pastured poultry products;

Serve as an information resource for new and existing farmers;

Promote pastured poultry as an established farming enterprise requiring low capital investment;

Establish a reputable Association to promote the pastured poultry industry.

A result of the Pastured Poultry Committee was the formation of The Central New York Pastured Poultry Association. The association came about as the result of a meeting between interested farmers who had heard Joel Salatin speak at an alternative farming conference in 1994. Following the conference several producers visited Polyface Farm in Virginia and decided to form an association to promote pastured poultry as a viable agricultural enterprise. The association has assisted 100's of individuals get started in pastured poultry since its inception in 1994.

CNYPPA hosts farm tours and conferences and provides producers with information on startup to marketing. The association also oversees the operation of a Mobile Processing Unit (MPU). The MPU has allowed many producers to undertake raising pasture poultry without the expense of purchasing processing equipment.

CNYPPA also works with the American Pastured Poultry Producers Association (APPPA) to promote pastured poultry nation wide.
